When everything started...
When I was 9 years old my mom arrived at home saying:
Denise, tomorrow you are going to start studying English in a language school.
And I asked: Why? She answered: Because It will be important for you who want
to be a judge.
So,
the following day I went to my first class and it was fascinating. Teacher
Shirley makes a miracle. I had never had contact with the language and in the
first class I sang, I talked, I listened and the most important thing, teacher
Shirley became my friend. I fell in love for the language. After some months I
didn´t want to be a judge anymore, I would like to be an ENGLISH TEACHER.
When
I started the elementary schooI I had some problems because I didn´t have good
teachers. They only taught verb to be and text translation. We never talked
during the classes and even me that was studying in a language school, was
insecure. We just looked like a parrot, repeating the verb to be.
But,
when I started the high school, I had luck, my teacher was good. She said that
was very easy to learn English and this made my group become more
motivated and have more autonomy to study by themselves at home. This teacher
brought listening activities, song, crossword, tests, vĂdeos etc
When
I was 15 years old I started teaching English at a preschool. So, I
decided to do Letras at the University. When I was in the second year I started
teaching in a private school. When I finished the University I passed in the
public concourse and started teaching in the public school. I always had these 2
realities and I have the same stance in both places with responsability,
motivation and commitment.
After
some years I studied Post Graduate, Specialization and the Master Degree,
everything related with the English Language.
I´m
dedicating myself as a teacher and as a student, always reading, studying
hard and having contact with the language. I have sure that I have
learned a lot as a teacher, and this is a process that never finish but I
think I am in the right way. This place gives us the opportunity to
reflect upon our teaching and always improve!
